Anna Hoyt – A Life Transformed Through Recovery and Purpose
I struggled with addiction from the age of 13, using alcohol and drugs to escape feelings of loneliness and unworthiness. My life spiraled as I faced trauma, addiction, and incarceration. I lost everything—my family, career, and even my will to live.
In 2012, after suffering two ruptured brain aneurysms and a hemorrhagic stroke, I woke up in a coma with cognitive disabilities, unable to walk properly, blind in one eye, and plagued by seizures. With nowhere to go, I ended up in violent, abusive situations, convinced I was beyond saving.
Everything changed when a woman ministering in jail told me that God loved me, no matter what I had done or what had been done to me. For the first time, I believed it. That moment planted a seed of hope, and during my time in prison, I nurtured it. I was determined to change my life.
Upon my release, I came to Healing House, where I found real recovery, purpose, and community. Now, as a woman in long-term recovery, I have a life filled with purpose, family, and faith. In March of 2018, I became a staff member at Healing House, and today, I serve as the RSS Access Site Director and Program Compliance Manager. My work focuses on policy implementation, regulatory compliance, and ensuring operational excellence to support the mission of Healing House. I am passionate about fostering hope and empowerment in others, helping create an environment where individuals can find stability, healing, and a new way of life.
I want people to know that no matter how far they’ve fallen—even if they’ve been to prison, lost everything, or believe they’re beyond redemption—there is a way out. Recovery is possible. A new life is possible. If I can do it, so can you.
