Healing House KC Holds Grand Opening of 15th House on November 23rd
Offering Healing to those in Addiction Recovery

“We are thrilled to celebrate the Grand Opening of Joye House, providing a safe, supportive environment
where men can rebuild their lives and reconnect with their families. Each of our houses
represents hope, healing, and the promise of a brighter future.”
—Bobbi Jo Reed, Founder & CEO of Healing House KC

Kansas City, Missouri— Officials at Healing House KC, 4505 St. John Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri, are excited to announce the Grand Opening of Joye House. This is the 15th house opened since the organization was founded by Bobbi Jo Reed in 2002, housing men and women in Healing House’s recovery programs, certified by the Missouri Department of Mental Health and accredited by the National Association for Recovery Residences.

Joye House will house men in the Advanced Program who are working to overcome substance use disorder and other life-dominating barriers to long-term stability and reconciliation with family.

The house is named in honor of the Bosma family, faithful donors, and volunteers at Healing House. “Joye Bosma was the family matriarch,” said Bobbi Jo Reed, founder and CEO of Healing House KC. “We wanted to honor her legacy by naming it after her.” Joye Bosma passed away in 2020 after a lengthy battle with cancer. “She lived with an incredibly positive attitude and found joy each day. Her family continues to “Choose Joy” daily to honor her life.”

Participants accepted to Healing House start in a “Beginner Home” and progress to an “Advanced Home.” The Beginner Program focuses on onboarding, essential life skills, daily chores, and other foundational activities. Once they complete this stage, participants advance to the Advanced Program, where they secure employment, pay rent, save money, continue their recovery journey, and often reunite with family members.

Ribbon cutting will take place Saturday, November 23rd at 11:00 am
at Joye House, located at 3708 St. John Ave, KCMO
