Healing House KC Participants Give Back:
A Heartwarming Holiday Outreach for Their Neighborhood and the Homeless Community

Kansas City, Missouri— Healing House KC is excited to announce their Day of Giving on December 21, aimed at bringing warmth and support to those in need within the community. This special event will focus on two key initiatives: their Homeless Outreach and the Community Christmas Care Day.

As part of our Homeless Outreach, Healing House program participants, dedicated staff and volunteers will personally distribute backpacks to those in need, spreading kindness and compassion throughout our community. The First Interstate Bank – Shawnee Branch graciously donated the needed 100 backpacks filled with essential items for individuals experiencing homelessness. Each backpack includes food, socks, winter weather gear, and basic hygiene items. Additionally, every bag will feature a handwritten letter of encouragement, a pocket Bible, and a Participant Brochure, all crafted to uplift and support those who receive them.

Healing House KC is particularly proud that the participants themselves are at the heart of this initiative. Many of those who have been through Healing House’s recovery and rehabilitation programs are now giving back to the community that once supported them. These individuals, who have experienced their own journeys of healing and transformation, are committed to paying it forward by actively participating in The Day of Giving. Their involvement exemplifies the core mission of Healing House—to restore lives through faith, hope, and service to others. By participating in these outreach efforts, they not only provide tangible support but also inspire others through their actions of kindness and resilience.

***Best media opportunity for the Homeless Outreach would be to arrive
for preparation at 9:00 am at their Recovery Community Center,
located at 112 N. Elmwood Avenue, KCMO; as well as at their
Administration Building, located at 4505 St. John Avenue, KCMO. ***

In conjunction with the Homeless Outreach, they are thrilled to host their Community Christmas Care Day. Santa will be on hand to create a festive atmosphere, where children from the neighborhood can choose a toy and any winter clothing items they may need. This initiative ensures that every child can experience the joy of giving and receiving during this special time of year.

“At Healing House, we believe in the power of community and giving back,” said Bobbi Jo Reed, CEO & Founder of Healing House KC. “This Day of Giving is not just about providing material support; it’s about fostering hope and connection within our neighborhood. It’s a reminder that healing is a journey that involves not just receiving help, but also extending a hand to lift others up.”
